Job summary

Priory Group is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for night shifts at Cotswold Lodge, New Romney, Kent. You will join a compassionate team supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Shift hours are 22:00–07:00, full-time 36 hours per week, with a focus on personal care, daily living tasks, and therapeutic activities. You will contribute to care planning, documentation, and maintaining safe, confidential practice while building rapport with residents and their families.

Qualifications

  • NVQ2 Health & Social Care or equivalent or higher recognised qualification.
  • Good communication and personal interaction skills; ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care and daily living tasks.
  • Update person-centred care plans and daily notes.
  • Maintain safety, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Support residents with activities and therapy plans as directed.

Cotswold Lodge has an opportunity for a Support Worker to join our team.

Shift times are 10pm-7am.

Supporting adults with a diagnosis of a learning disability and/or Autism that can display some challenging behaviours.

Cotswold Lodge, New Romney, Kent is a residential service supporting 6 adults with a range of needs. It is located in a town setting and is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes and nearby rail links via Ashford International. Due to the location of the service, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents

  • Ensure that the people who use our service have any personal needs or requirements met; including personal care, participation in activities and support with daily living tasks. To support people who use our service in achieving their outcomes in the way that they choose.
  • Complete daily administration including updating person centred support & care plans, updating charts and completing accurate daily notes.
  • Maintains professional relationships whilst developing a good rapport with the people who use our service, their family, colleagues, visitors and other stakeholders.
  • Through own professional behaviour, including adhering to policies and procedures, contributes to the maintenance of safety, security and confidentiality standards.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role

  • NVQ2 in Health & Social Care or related area or equivalent or higher recognised qualification. GCSE or NVQ2 in English and Maths. N.B. It is not anticipated that all new recruits to the role will have NVQ2 qualification but will commence the attainment process within six months of joining and will have a specific time period in which to qualify.
  • Communication and personal interaction is a key feature of this role and may include the provision of support to people who use challenging behaviour as a way to communicate their needs and frustrations or who use alternative communication methods such as pictures and signing systems. This role also requires participation in and promotion of a team approach at all times, with positive and constructive working relationships for the benefit of the service user. To contribute both verbally and in writing to service user reviews and support planning.
  • The problems faced by many service users may present challenging situations, which may increase the physical, sensory and emotional demands of the role.
