Job summary

IBC Healthcare supports individuals across the Midlands with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, dementia, physical disabilities, and mental health conditions. A compassionate Support Worker is sought to provide one-to-one care in Droylsden, following PBS and trauma-informed approaches to promote independence and wellbeing.

The role emphasizes consistent routines, community access, and collaboration with families and healthcare professionals, with paid induction and funded diplomas

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or behaviours of concern.
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed practice.
  • Strong de-escalation, communication and observational skills.
  • A calm, patient, non-reactive approach under pressure.
  • Consistency and strong professional boundaries; predictable routines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to the individual's needs, preferences and goals.
  • Promote independence and meaningful choice in daily life.
  • Support personal care with dignity and respect.
  • Assist with medication administration in line with policy.
  • Support daily living tasks to build skills and confidence, not just complete tasks.
  • Encourage community access and social inclusion aligned with the person’s interests.
  • Follow the support plan, risk assessment and PBS plan consistently.
  • Recognise distress signs and respond using de-escalation techniques.
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation and records.
  • Collaborate with family, healthcare professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team.
