Job summary

Leicestershire County Council in Melton Mowbray is seeking a Support Worker (Female only) to provide person-centred care for adults with learning differences in a short breaks and supported living setting. The role is permanent, 25 hours per week, with a rotating schedule including weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate commitment to high-quality care and maximises independence.
• Ability to use equipment to assist with moving and handling; support people with complex needs; attend training.
• Effective communication skills, including engaging with service users who may use alternative methods (e.g., Makaton, picture boards, signs).
• Good organisational skills to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, respond effectively to crisis situations.
• IT and written skills sufficient to write and maintain clear, concise records.
• Be responsive to meet the changing needs of a 24/7 service, including weekend and bank holiday work; attend meetings/trainings outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day support, providing assistance with personal care and promoting choice and independence.
• Support people with complex needs and promote person-centred care.
• Work as part of a team and respond effectively to crisis situations.
• Attend training and participate in service rota including weekends and bank holidays.
