Job summary

Cambian Group Plc is recruiting a Residential Support Worker for Deaf Services in Mid Devon to support deaf young people in a residential home setting. You will help with daily activities and communication using BSL where possible, using AAC devices and visual prompts to promote independence.

The role offers both full-time and part-time shifts, with CPD opportunities after probation and potential fast-tracked career development for suitable candidates in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of BSL is desired.
• CPD opportunities after probation and fast-tracked career development for suitable candidates.
• Experience supporting deaf young people in residential settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

Residential Support Worker – Deaf Services

Salary: £13.19- £13.81 + £32 Sleep in Rate

Overview

We are looking for individuals to support our young people in a residential home setting in Mid Devon. These individuals are profoundly deaf, and need support in their day to day life.

All of the young adults use British Sign Language to communicate and all communication is supported by AAC devices and visual imagery.

Some Knowledge of BSL is desired however courses would be offered in line with current experience and qualifications.

Specialist equipment and facilities are provided to support the challenges faced with the sensory loss, such as; specialist fire systems, vibrating pads, access to a minicom and internet connection for face time or skype.

As part of the team you will be working closely with other local organisations and services to offer a wide choice of activities, hobbies, educational input and support to attend Deaf events and integration into the Deaf community. As well as the day to day running of the home and supporting the residential daily needs.

You will be supported by a dedicated core team and on job training.

Requirements for DBS and reference checking will be under-taken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
