Job summary

The Deaf Academy in Exmouth is seeking an experienced Residential Care Worker to progress to staff supervision and quality assurance responsibilities while continuing to work directly with children and young people. You will support staff development, oversee care practice, promote safeguarding and wellbeing, and help create positive outcomes for students with complex needs.

There are two teams with a 42-hour week across a 2-week rota including weekends, sleep-ins, and some evenings.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

Are you an experienced residential care professional looking to progress, ready to undertake staff supervision and quality assurance responsibilities whilst continuing to work directly with children and young people? Working closely with our Shift Leaders, you will support staff development, oversee care practice, promote safeguarding and wellbeing, and help create positive outcomes for students with complex needs.

Every day as a Residential Care Worker is different within our Academy Residential Home. Our students spend their day in our School or College, some also doing work placements or qualifications elsewhere, after which they return to our residential care flats. The shift pattern for this role is therefore outside of 'school hours'. You’ll be support to develop their independent living skills, as well as organising social activities, for example, activities in the local community, trips to the beach, cinema or bowling, as well as trips further afield.

Shift Pattern

There are 2 teams that you may be placed in, each team works 42 hours per week that share a 2-week rota including weekends (working some evenings including sleep-ins, and 1 in every 2 weekends during the term). *This position is working during the academy's term time, plus an additional 5 training days. The minimum salary for this role with no sleep-in rate applied is £28,207pa (this would apply to those only working the Mon-Fri shift pattern). The salary including sleep-ins may be up to £32,387pa (this includes payment for the maximum numbers of sleep-ins possible for those working on full shift pattern).

We have a number of residential care roles available to start in September, we will therefore be shortlisting applications on a rolling basis. The Academy may close or amend the advert before the closing date.
