About The Role

We are recruiting a Support Worker/Carer in Gateshead to support people to live in and be part of the local community, within a supported living environment. Our services are about helping people to get out in the community and make the most of time in their own homes.

Position: Support Worker/Carer (Supported Living)

Location: Gateshead (NE11 postcode)

Hours: 40 hours per week, a mixture of day and night shifts (12 hours) and sleep ins.

Due to the service being a 3:1 support, it is preferable that you have experience with challenging behaviors and complex needs.

About you

Are you enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to supporting people in a way which respects their dignity?

You will need to be adaptable, flexible, with excellent communication skills and able to work as part of our team. Although not essential it is desirable to:

  1. Have previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities, although all training will be provided.
  2. Hold or be working towards a NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
  3. Hold a valid driving licence.

The role

Provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans. Including but not limited to:

  1. Promote the health, well-being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people we support and ensure they are met in an inclusive way.
  2. Facilitating social, educational or work activities such as visiting family and friends, walks, shopping and other recreational activities of their choice.
  3. General housekeeping duties that can include shopping, domestic duties as well as elements of personal care.
  4. As part of the role, you will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents.
