Job summary

Cartref House in Sittingbourne is seeking a compassionate support worker to assist adults with mild intellectual disabilities, autism, and complex mental health conditions. You will be trained to help service users with daily tasks, emotional regulation, and community involvement.

We value kindness, openness to learning, resilience, and strong communication. A Care Certificate is helpful, and previous experience is preferred though not essential. A full UK driving licence is a bonus.

Qualifications

Job description

At Cartref House we support adults with mild intellectual disabilities, autism and complex mental health conditions that include emotionally unstable personality disorders. People with these conditions often struggle with interpersonal relationships, have difficulty regulating their emotions, and can experience intense mood swings. These disorders can significantly impact a person's daily life, work and relationships.

As a support worker, you will be given the very best training in order to help our service users to

Responsibilities
  • Promote their rights and express themselves
  • Manage their emotional and communication needs
  • Undertake their daily-life skills, such as budgeting, shopping, laundry, cooking, and cleaning
  • Engage with the wider community by attending appointments and social occasions

Whether supporting a service user with grocery shopping or meal preparation, you have the opportunity to gain insights into human behaviour and foster meaningful lives by promoting positive decision-making.
