Job summary

Acuity Care Group is seeking a warm, reliable Female Support Worker to assist a sociable 22-year-old woman with complex health needs at a family home. You’ll support daily living, engage in activities, and travel initially to Armthorpe, Doncaster before moving to Crowle, Scunthorpe.

Full UK driving licence essential; training provided through Acuity Academy; competitive pay options and benefits including health plan and employee assistance program.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence required; must be able to drive a manual mobility van.
• Willing and able to travel to Armthorpe, Doncaster initially; then Crowle, Scunthorpe.
• Experience in care or support work is desirable; compassionate and patient.
• Able to recognise non-verbal communication and changes in wellbeing.
• Reliable, attentive and able to remain calm in emergencies.
• Willingness to undertake all required training relating to complex health needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily living support and personal care.

Job description

Shift pattern: 5 x36 hours per week available on the below shift patterns

We are looking for a warm, reliable and attentive Female Support Worker to join our team supporting a sociable and fun-loving 22-year-old woman with complex health needs.She lives at home with her parents, siblings and friendly pet dog, so you’ll be joining a lively and welcoming household.She enjoys sensory play, pamper sessions, girlie time and getting out and about for activities, and we’re looking for someone who will support her to enjoy the things that matter most to her.

Although she is non-verbal, she communicates through facial expressions, and as you build a trusting relationship with her, you’ll learn to recognise and understand her individual ways of communicating.She has a range of complex health and support needs, including severe Epileptic Encephalopathy, a learning disability, hypotonic dystonic spasms, gastrostomy and fundoplication, scoliosis, limited vision and oral suction requirements. She also requires full support with all aspects of daily living.

She is currently based in Armthorpe, Doncaster, and will be moving to Crowle, Scunthorpe.Applicants must therefore be willing and able to travel to Armthorpe initially to provide support until the move takes place. Following the move, the role will be permanently based in Crowle, Scunthorpe.

Experience and Skills of a Support Worker:

• Full UK Driving License, a driver aged 21+ who can drive a manual mobility van.
• Willing and able to travel to Armthorpe, Doncaster initially, before the role moves to Crowle, Scunthorpe.
• Previous experience in care or support work is desirable, particularly supporting individuals with complex health needs.
• A warm, compassionate and patient approach with a genuine passion for supporting others.
• Confident in providing person-centred care and building positive, trusting relationships.
• Good communication and observation skills, with the ability to recognise non-verbal communication and changes in wellbeing.
• Reliable, attentive and able to remain calm in challenging or emergency situations.
• Willingness to undertake all required training relating to the individual's complex health and care needs.
• Comfortable working within a family home environment, including around a pet dog.
• Able to support with all aspects of daily living and personal care.
