Job description

Job title: Support Worker Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire Pay rate: £17.00 per hour weekdays / £19.00 per hour weekends + Holiday Pay Shifts and schedule: Full-time and part-time opportunities available across a 24/7 care package, including waking nights.

Thriving Healthcare is excited to present a new opportunity for Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting an individual with a severe acquired brain injury in their own home in Rotherham.

We are looking for people who want to provide genuine rehabilitation-focused support, helping someone maintain and develop their independence rather than simply completing tasks for them.

Our client is articulate, engaging, funny and sociable, but their brain injury significantly affects their cognition, behaviour and relationships. Building trust takes time, and the right Support Workers will need to be resilient, patient and confident maintaining clear professional boundaries.

Previous brain injury experience would be advantageous, but the right attitude, personality and willingness to learn are equally important. Extensive client-specific training and support will be available from an experienced multidisciplinary clinical team.

Do you believe that disability shouldn't prevent someone from living as independently and meaningfully as possible? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

Salary & Benefits:
  • £17.00 per hour weekdays. + Holiday Pay
  • £19.00 per hour weekends.+ Holiday Pay
  • Holiday pay can be taken with weekly pay, or accrued and taken on request - no time limits or cut offs.
  • Extensive client-specific training.
  • Access to specialist multidisciplinary professionals supporting the package.
  • Dedicated learning and development opportunities.
  • Access to a wide range of free online courses.
  • Refer a friend scheme - earn up to £500 per referral.
  • Opportunity to become part of a new, dedicated and stable support team.
Company and Role:
  • Supporting an individual with a severe acquired brain injury and physical disabilities within their own home.
  • Working as part of a 2:1, 24-hour support package.
  • Promoting independence and actively supporting the client's rehabilitation goals.
  • Encouraging the client to complete activities for themselves wherever possible rather than automatically doing things for them.
  • Supporting daily living, personal care, mobility and meaningful activities.
  • Following individual rehabilitation programmes and recommendations from the wider clinical team.
  • Building a positive and consistent professional relationship with the client.
  • Maintaining clear professional boundaries at all times.
  • Working collaboratively with the Team Leader, Registered Manager, family and multidisciplinary team.
  • Completing comprehensive client-specific training to understand the client's brain injury, communication, behaviour, rehabilitation and physical support needs.
Successful Applicant:
  • Caring, positive and genuinely motivated to improve another person's quality of life.
  • Resilient and emotionally robust, with the ability to remain professional when faced with challenging situations.
  • Energetic and able to bring a positive attitude to each shift.
  • Able to establish and maintain strong professional boundaries.
  • Patient and willing to take the time to understand the person behind the brain injury.
  • Comfortable working as part of a structured multidisciplinary support package.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable and committed to providing consistent support.
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries, neurological conditions, challenging behaviour or complex needs would be advantageous.
  • Willing to undertake extensive client-specific training and apply rehabilitation strategies consistently between clinical sessions.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service would be highly advantageous due to the anticipated mobilisation timescale.

If you're a Support Worker looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely contribute to someone's rehabilitation, independence and quality of life, this could be an incredibly rewarding role.

We're not simply looking for someone to provide care. We're looking for people who want to support progress, build trust and become part of a consistent team around one individual.
