Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with autism?

Join our team at Orbis Education and Care as a Support Worker and be a part of a dedicated, compassionate community!

About Us:

Orbis Education and Care is a leading provider of specialist services for children and adults with complex needs associated with autism. Our mission is to provide exceptional care and support that empowers individuals to lead fulfilling lives. We focus on a person-centred approach, ensuring each individual's strengths, interests, and aspirations are at the heart of everything we do.

Role Overview:

As a Support Worker at Maes Y Coed, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality, person-centred support to supported individuals within a residential setting. Working independently during your shift, you will provide dedicated support to an individual living in their own self-contained flat, promoting choice, dignity, independence, and wellbeing in all aspects of daily life.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference, supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives, achieve outcomes that are meaningful to them, and develop the skills and confidence to maximise their independence.

While you will be part of a wider, supportive, and experienced team, you will be comfortable working autonomously, making informed decisions in line with support plans and organisational policies, and taking ownership of your responsibilities throughout your shift. You will build positive relationships based on trust, respect, and understanding, ensuring each individual receives the support they need to thrive.

About Maes Y Coed :

Maes Y Coed, our newest home in the Pembrokeshire area, is located near Pembroke Dock and comprises five self-contained flats situated within the grounds of its sister service, Bangeston Hall.

We pride ourselves on providing personalised, person-centred support tailored to the unique needs, preferences, and aspirations of each supported individual. Our approach focuses on promoting independence, enhancing quality of life, and empowering individuals to make choices about how they live their lives within the comfort and security of their own home.

A typical day in the life of working at Maes Y Coed may include:
  • Provide person-centred care and support to individuals with autism.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Encourage and support individuals in participating in community activities and pursuing their interests, such as swimming and bowling.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and record the progress of individuals, ensuring all care plans are followed.
  • Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and developing new skills.
  • Promote a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring the well-being of all individuals.
Sound good so far? We are looking for people who care and have:
  • A compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
  • A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team, whilst being able to use own initiative.
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
  • A full UK driving licence – essential for supporting our individuals with transport to appointments and activities.
  • No experience needed — just passion, patience, and commitment!
