Job summary

Codi Group in Newport is seeking Support Workers to join the Supported Living team, assisting four women with varied support needs. The role involves daily living tasks, medication support, meals, and community participation in a 24-hour service with sleep-in shifts and weekend work.

Training and guidance are provided to develop independence and quality of life, with a focus on compassionate, person-centred care within the community and home settings.

Qualifications

  • IT, numeracy and digital literacy.
  • Experience working as part of a team and with people or customers.
  • A driving licence is not essential as individuals use public transport and there are no mobility vehicles at the service.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals to develop independence with cooking, household tasks, daily routines and community participation.
  • Administer and record medication safely in line with support plans.
  • Encourage participation in hobbies, social activities, community events and opportunities meaningful to each person.
  • Build confidence, promote wellbeing and provide encouragement and companionship.
  • Support individuals to attend health appointments and access local services.
  • Prepare meals with the individuals and support healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Complete household tasks, maintain accurate records and work with colleagues and professionals.
  • Use Nourish and other digital systems to update support notes, risk assessments and required documentation.
  • Manage petty cash accurately and contribute ideas to enhance independence and quality of life.

About The Role

We're looking for Support Workers to join our Supported Living team in Newport, supporting four women with a variety of support needs. The individuals enjoy getting out and about in their local community, especially going out for meals, meeting people and, most importantly, enjoying a nice slice of cake.

You’ll support these individuals to live independently, pursue their goals and enjoy life to the fullest. The role includes supporting with daily living activities, medication administration, meal preparation, household tasks, accessing healthcare appointments and promoting independence both at home and in the community.

Two of the ladies access the community independently, while the other two require support to participate in activities and appointments. The focus of the role is on enhancing quality of life, encouraging independence and helping each individual achieve the things that matter most to them.

As a 24-hour service, flexibility is essential. Sleep-in shifts form part of the rota, alongside day shifts and every other weekend working.

We have a range of part-time roles available.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting individuals to develop independence with cooking, household tasks, daily routines and community participation
  • Administering and recording medication safely in line with support plans
  • Encouraging participation in hobbies, social activities, community events and opportunities that are meaningful to each individual
  • Building confidence, promoting wellbeing and providing encouragement and companionship
  • Supporting individuals to attend health appointments and access local services
  • Preparing meals alongside the individuals and supporting healthy lifestyle choices
  • Completing household tasks, maintaining accurate records and working collaboratively with colleagues and professionals
  • Using digital systems, including Nourish, to update support notes, risk assessments and other required documentation
  • Managing petty cash accurately and contributing creative ideas that enhance independence, choice and quality of life for the people we support
Skills And Experience Needed

A background in working with people who have support needs is desirable, but not essential, as full training and support from senior staff and management will be provided.

Pay And Benefits
  • £13.45 per hour
  • Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8-hour shift
  • Waking night rate: 20% Enhancement (£16.14 per hour) from 11pm to 7am
  • Enhanced DBS which we will pay for
  • Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed
