Leicestershire County Council in Hinckley is recruiting for a 22.5-hour per week contract support worker to deliver high quality care in a short breaks and supported living service for adults with disabilities. The role offers opportunities for training, progression, and a Local Government Pension Scheme.

You will provide day-to-day support, assist with personal care, promote independence, and work within a team that values dignity and person-centred care.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality care and support which maximises independence and adheres to relevant regulations.
  • Ability to use equipment to assist with moving and handling service users and support people with complex needs.
  • Effective communication with service users who may use alternative communication methods.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including crisis situations.
  • IT and written skills to maintain clear, concise records.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and bank holidays.

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: The Trees Short Breaks, Hinckley & Charnwood Supported Living Services, Deveron Way, Hinckley LE10 0XD

Salary: £25,995 - £26,409 per annum (pro rata for part-time) (Pay Award Pending)

Working Hours: 1 x 22.5 hours per week. Must be able to work flexibly and participate in a service rota that incorporates weekends and bank holidays. Working between the hours of 7.00 and 22.00.

Contract Type: Permanent

Our friendly team at Hinckley Short Breaks & Supported Living Services are looking for one 22.5 hours per week contract support worker(s) to join our team. Hinckley Short Breaks & Supported Living Services is a purpose-built short break centre, providing respite and supported living care for adults with learning disability, Autism, Physical disabilities and Sensory impairments. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work as part of our team, to provide person centred care.

About The Role

We are looking for people who can help us to deliver high quality care and support to adults with disabilities in a supported living environment.

You will deliver day to day support, providing assistance with personal care, promoting choice and control alongside maximising independence.

You don’t need to have any previous formal experience in care, we are interested in people who share our values to join our committed team and celebrate individuality.

We will provide the training needed and have a team behind you to mentor, coach and support your journey.

You will work in accordance with Leicestershire County Council’s Employee Code of Conduct, Skills for Care Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers.

We will meet the training costs and the DBS enhanced check (Adults Barred List) for a regulated activity required for this post.

About You
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality care and support which maximises independence, is anti-discriminatory, and adheres to relevant regulations and procedures (such as Adult Safeguarding and Valuing People Now).
  • The ability to use available equipment to assist with moving and handling service users and to support people with complex needs and willing to attend training courses.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to engage with service users who may use alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, picture boards, signs).
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and remain calm under pressure.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, responding effectively to crisis situations.
  • IT and written skills sufficient to write and maintain clear, concise records.
  • Be responsive to meet the changing needs of a 24/7 service, including being able to work flexibly and participate in a service rota that incorporates working weekends and bank holidays, and be willing to attend meetings or training outside of normal working hours.
