Job summary

Turning Point UK is seeking caring and enthusiastic support workers to help adults with learning disabilities. You will assist with daily living, personal care, medication and mobility while promoting independence and safety.

You will work a range of shifts, support activities in the home and community, and help residents build life skills in a person-centred setting. Not-for-profit ethos applies.

We enjoy spending time together but also have individual interests, to which we need support to be able to take part in. You will be assisting our service users with daily activities, personal care, medication and mobility as well as daily living tasks. Some of the people we support are non verbal and require higher levels of support as they have more complex needs.We endeavour to create positive family relationships offering a good circle of support. There is a strong focus on supporting individuals' lives in a person centred way which includes various activities, shopping, managing own budgets and cooking. We tailor our services to enable people to be as independent as possible.Shift Patterns:You will be working a range of shifts from 7:30am - 3pm and 2:30 pm- 9:30pm / 10pm.What will I be doing?This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include:promoting the independence of people we supportsupporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or going away on holidayarranging activities in the home and in the local communitydeveloping residents' life skills and personal interestshelping residents stay safe and healthyassisting with personal care needsmanual handlingsupporting people with medicationensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements.What skills and qualities do I need to have?Whilst knowledge of learning disabilities and complex needs would be beneficial, it isn't essential.
