Job summary

Turning Point UK is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to help adults with learning disabilities across England. You will provide day-to-day support, personal care, cooking, budgeting, and activities to promote independence in a not-for-profit setting.

Passionate about people, you will enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career too, as you gain the experience and training you need to progress with us.Where will I be working?You will form part of a team, providing 24 hour support to one our services users, with complex needs, learning disability and physical disability.The Support Worker role is varied and the team is committed to enabling people to live a full life. The nature of people’s needs can extend to fully supporting people with all aspects of daily living; personal care, cooking, medication, cleaning and budgeting, to enabling people to go shopping, access employment and education, attending regular social events, with the people we support encouraged to try new experiences. We tailor our services to enable people to be as independent as possible.Staff will empower people to have a wide range of experiences and to get the best out of all that they do to enjoy life.We use a digital social care record system, to support daily recording, which will make your day-to-day tasks easier and allows you to spend more time with the People We Support.Shift PatternsThis is a full time position working day shifts with a mixture or earlies, lates, long days and weekends.Please note that the shifts may vary.Role ResponsibilityWhat will I be doing?This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include:promoting the independence of people we supportsupporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or going away on holidayarranging activities in the home and in the local communitydeveloping residents' life skills and personal interestshelping residents stay safe and healthyassisting with personal care needsmanual handlingsupporting people with medicationensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements.The Ideal CandidateWhat skills and qualities do I need to have?passionate, caring and enthusiasticPrevious experience with complex needs, in a support worker or care roleflexible, patient and non-judgementala great team player with lots of energyable to demonstrate good communication skillsable to complete the physical aspects of the role such as manual handling where neededAbout usAs a leading health and social care provider with more than 300 locations across England, we take real pride in the services we offer.We run all of our services on a not-for-profit basis; instead, we invest every penny back into our services and people.
