Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We transform lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred support that fosters independence and empowerment.

Our charity was founded in 1988 and we were one of the pioneers of the ‘Care in the Community’ agenda, enabling people to move out of long-stay institutions and live more fulfilling lives.

Since then, we’ve remained leaders in social care, providing bespoke support to thousands across the UK. Today, we support more than 2,600 people and employ 6,600 caring and committed colleagues across England and Scotland.

We have a proud history of breaking boundaries and are always looking for new ways to make a positive difference through bold ideas, innovative projects and impactful partnerships.

Here at Stone Street, there are four us, all unique and different in our own ways. Our ages range from 57 years old to 80 years old.

We all have our own individual flats, and the staff team work on a one to one basis with us all, the hours we receive are varied to suit our needs.

Two of us are independently mobile and one has a 4 wheeled rollator and another has a wheelchair which is used all the time. Two of us have our own cars which makes it ideal for long days out.

Each one of us has our own challenges we face daily, hearing problems, autism, cerebral palsy, schizo-affective and asperges.

The staff team are trained with all service specific training and of the challenges that we face on a daily basis. Staff look at the best way possible to improve our lives and give us the best possible support needed.

We all have our different individual needs and enjoy doing our own thing. Some of us like to go shopping, look around shops and have a beverage and snack, whilst others like to do more an activity like bowling or seeing a movie. Either way we all like to be out during the day.

Occasionally we do enjoy doing activities together, such as BBQ’s or parties in the garden. We sometimes just have lunch in the garden together.

We all have different support hours, they range from 9am-2pm, 8.30am-4pm, 9.30am-7.30pm and also 9am-11pm sleepover shift then they do 7am till 9am.

During the morning there are four staff members, then goes to two on an evening and just one staff member doing the sleepover.

We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we’re really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.

  • Patience
  • Empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others
  • A strong work ethic
  • Reliability
  • Honesty
  • Determination
  • A problem solver
  • Resilience
