Job summary

Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative is seeking a Support Worker in Fairbourne, Gwynedd. The role includes part-time or full-time hours, with weekends and sleep-ins; permanent contract.

You will help individuals make choices, support daily living, and encourage participation in community activities while building trusted relationships in a close-knit village. No prior experience is required as full training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Must have a full driving licence - essential.
  • Own car and willingness to use it for transporting people we support.
  • Welsh language ability is preferred to meet cultural needs.

We have both part time and full time hours, please speak to us about the hours you are looking to do. Your shift pattern will include weekends and sleep-ins

Salary

£13.59per hour and our sleep-in shifts at £60 per night and our travel expenses is paid 55p per mile

What you'll be doing:

As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to someone's life - supporting them to make their own choices, achieve their goals and enjoy everyday life to the fullest.From choosing what to wear, what to eat or how to spend their day, to bigger decisions such as managing their finances, deciding where to live or planning a holiday, you'll be there to provide encouragement, support and reassurance while helping people live life on their own terms.

You'll also support individuals to get involved in activities that build confidence, learn new skills and discover new interests. This could be anything from helping around the home and paying bills, to getting out into the local community, keeping in touch with friends and family, or simply enjoying a cup of tea and a good chat.

Living and working in a close-knit village community, you'll have the chance to build genuine relationships and become someone people know and trust.

It's often the little things - a friendly conversation, a walk to the local shop, trying something new or helping someone achieve something they didn't think they could - that make the biggest difference. Our aim is to make everyday remarkable, by supporting wellbeing, independence and the things that bring happiness, purpose and connection.

No experiencerequired as fulltraining is provided. We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • have patience and empathy
  • can support a person with their intimate personal care with respect and dignity
  • have strong communication and teamwork skills
  • are able to speak on behalf of others as well as to a range of professional people
  • have good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy and meaning
  • have a full driving licence - essential for transporting individuals to appointments and activities
  • have access to your own car and happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 55p per mile to cover this
  • being fluent in Welsh is preferred so you can effectively communicate with Welsh-speaking service users and meet their cultural and linguistic needs.
