Job summary

Sense is recruiting two Education Support Workers for our college in Dereham. The role is full-time, 35 hours weekly, Monday to Friday 9:15am–4:15pm, permanent. You will help learners prepare for adulthood, support EHCP outcomes, and uphold Sense values while assisting with personal care as needed.

Experience with sensory impairment, autism or learning disability is useful; training in BSL/Makaton may be provided. Level 2 English and Maths required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working with people who have a sensory impairment, autism or learning disability would be an advantage.
  • Training will be provided in BSL, Makaton or other communication methods.
  • Essential ability to work effectively as part of a team with own initiative.
  • Level 2 English and Maths is an essential requirement for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare learners for transitions into adulthood and support their outcomes within Education, Health and Care Plans.
  • Work with learners to achieve outcomes and provide a high-quality education experience.
  • Keep the needs of learners at the centre and apply Sense values in practice.
  • Support personal care as a requirement of the role.

Job description

We’re looking for two great individuals to join our professional team of Education Support Workers at our College in Dereham, working 35 hours per week on a full-time permanent basis - Monday to Friday 9:15am - 4:15pm

Your role is to prepare learners appropriately for the many possible transitions into adulthood. You will work closely with learners to achieve outcomes of their Education, Health and Care Plans. You will work within the framework of the Sense Values to:

  • Keep the needs of the learners at the centre of your attention at all times;
  • Enablelearners to influence their services and the way they are supported;
  • Help Sense to provide a high-quality education experience
  • Supporting people with their personal care is a requirement of this role.
About you
  • Previous experience of working with people who have a sensory impairment, autism or learning disability would be an advantage, as would knowledge of BSL, Makaton or other methods of communication however, training will be provided.
  • It is essential that you are able to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating your own initiative.
  • You will have had experience of person centred planning, keeping records up to date and providing personal care.
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths is an essential requirement for this role.
