About the Role

As a Support Worker in our 12-bed Young Adults Residential Service in central Derby, you’ll be providing care for adults aged 18-65 with severe learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and complex health needs. This role involves 24-hour care support, helping individuals move toward greater independence in supported living, or offering long-term care for those needing permanent placement.

Shift Details:

  • Early shifts, late shifts, long days, or waking nights
  • Includes alternate weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, caring, and consistent environment for young adults
  • Empower individuals to achieve personal goals, build confidence, and gain independence
  • Serve as a positive role model, respecting each person’s dignity
  • Deliver sensitive, high-quality support tailored to individual needs
  • Promote equality and diversity, and assist in the service’s smooth operation
  • Support individuals’ health and educational needs
  • Encourage the development of life skills for independence
  • Plan and participate in leisure activities
  • Act as a keyworker, supporting individual care plans
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
  • Participate in ongoing professional development

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Residential Care, or QCF Level 3 equivalent
  • Ideally of 2 years’ experience in a residential setting
  • Ideally of 1 years' experience supporting people with learning disabilities
  • Ideally of 1 years' experience with complex needs
