At Discovery, we support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. Join a friendly, dedicated team where people are at the heart of everything we do, and enjoy excellent training, development and benefits.
There's no typical Support Worker here—our teams come from all backgrounds, united by a shared desire to help people live well, learn new skills and gain independence. You'll make a real difference every day, creating meaningful moments and supporting choice.
Your wellbeing matters. From health support to flexible working, we provide the tools and culture to stay balanced, healthy, and at your best, both inside and outside of work.
Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.
This is a really hands-on, rewarding role where you'll be supporting five people (four men and one woman, aged 30s-60s) to live life their way, in a home right by Chard Reservoir. Each person is unique, with a mix of learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy and sensory processing needs. Some people communicate without words, so you'll use tools like PECS, signing, assistive technology and objects of reference to understand and connect with them
Day to day, it's all about being present, responsive and genuinely caring. You'll support with full personal care (including catheter care) and help people stay safe if they're feeling distressed, always taking a calm, understanding approach.
Life here is busy, fun and very person-led. People love getting out and about - whether that's going for walks, swimming, bowling or popping out for snacks or fish and chips. At home, there's lots of sensory play, ball games, time in the garden and just good banter and connection.
Shifts - 7am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm and alternate weekends.
You don't need previous experience in care, just the right values. We're looking for someone who is kind, patient, reliable, and passionate about helping others live fulfilling lives.
You'll enjoy building meaningful relationships, celebrating achievements, and supporting people to be as independent as possible. Whether you're helping someone learn a new skill, enjoy a day out, or simply have a great day, you'll bring positivity and encouragement to everything you do.
You'll be a great team player, willing to learn, and confident communicating with the people we support, their families, and colleagues. Being calm, adaptable, and able to use your initiative will help you thrive in this role.
Basic IT skills are required, as you'll use digital systems to complete training and record support notes.
Most importantly, you'll share our values of respect, inclusion, ambition, and courage, helping create a warm, supportive environment where people can live the life they choose.
AI can help you research and refine your application, but everything you submit should reflect your genuine skills and experience. Please ensure your application represents your own voice and abilities.
If you use assistive technology or require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, we are committed to supporting you where we can. Please let us know in advance so we can ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
