If you're looking for a role where you can build a truly meaningful connection with one person and make a genuine difference every day, this could be the perfect opportunity.
You’ll be supporting a wonderful lady in her 70s who lives independently in her own flat at Grove Court. She has a learning disability and communicates in her own unique way. While she doesn't use words to communicate, she understands a great deal, and as you get to know her, you'll become skilled at recognising her preferences, routines, and the things that bring her comfort and happiness.
You might be supporting her with personal care, helping her prepare for the day, accompanying her swimming, enjoying gentle walks, going for scenic drives to spot wildlife, or spending time people-watching in a quiet park or local pub. She loves books and sensory activities, often finding comfort in browsing charity shops for books to enjoy in her own way. She also enjoys watching music festivals such as Glastonbury on TV, captivated by the sights, sounds and atmosphere from the comfort of her home.
Consistency and routine are important to her, helping her feel safe, confident and comfortable. She can be reserved when meeting new people, but with patience, kindness and respect for her boundaries, you'll build a rewarding relationship based on trust.
To be successful in this role, you'll enjoy building meaningful relationships and taking the time to understand the unique ways someone communicates. You'll be naturally observant, recognising the small things that matter and helping to create an environment where the person you support feels safe, valued, and understood.
You’ll be supporting a lady who thrives with consistency, reassurance, and clear boundaries, so you’ll need to be reliable, calm, and able to provide a steady presence, particularly when routines change or she is feeling unsettled. A person-centred approach is essential, and support should always be tailored to her individual needs, preferences, and choices.
You’ll also be comfortable working independently as part of a lone-working team, using your initiative while knowing when to seek guidance and support from colleagues.
