LDA Care Ltd is recruiting for a Support Worker to assist an individual with autism and a learning disability in the Bath area. The role involves 1:1 day support and a sleep-in on a rotating Tuesday and Friday/Saturday schedule.
The ideal candidate will understand autism, be a positive advocate, and maintain consistency while motivating and supporting the individual throughout the day. A driving licence is preferred.
Job Description: Support Worker
Hours: 24 hour shift - One day shift and a sleep-in (The shifts will alternate between Tuesday and Friday/Saturday. will work Tuesday one week, then Friday or Saturday the following week.)
Pay: £15.00 per hour

The individual will be living on his own so we are looking for Mental Health Support Workers who can provide 1:1 support throughout his day.

Be a positive advocate for him
Be consistent – do what you say you say you will if you can’t explain why.
Be prepared to motivate him, but in a supportive manner

Wok ‘with him’ to solve issues that he may experience on a day-to-day basis
Come to work wanting to ‘work with’ him by making the effort of getting to know him
Listen to the people that know him well – his circle of support
CARE – be caring NOT JUST as a job as a value
Place him at the centre of the care/support you deliver (person centred)
Duty of Candour – this is important to him, be open and transparent if you make a mistake own it, learning from mistakes is important and apologies can be accepted
Be able to "have a laugh and a joke" a sense of humour. Interested to fully take part in conversations

Maths (don’t worry if you’re not a mathematician – just understand that I like it and will talk about it)
Lego (Visits to Lego land would be an activity of choice – so if this is not of interest its not for you)

Walking (Please have the energy to keep up with him, walking is an activity that would be required)
Politics/current affairs (taking part in the conversations would be appreciated and showing interest would be nice)
