Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust in Doncaster is recruiting for NHS AfC Band 2 Support Service Assistants. Two posts are available, working Monday to Friday only, with one 15.00 post and one 10.00 post.

Role involves maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment and supporting ward catering services. Full training will be provided; eligibility for sponsorship guidance is included in the posting.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths required
  • Commit to completing a competency workbook within 12 months
  • NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning & Support Services within 18 months of employment
  • Previous cleaning and/or catering experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Emptying bins, vacuum cleaning, mopping, buffing/scrubbing floors, damp dusting all furniture/fittings
  • Replenishing and cleaning of all sanitary areas
  • Catering service provided on ward areas

Applicants must be able to achieve a high standard of cleanliness and provide a clean and safe hospital environment for staff, patients and visitors in accordance with the National Standards of Cleanliness and customer's care.

Catering service also provided to ward areas so experience in catering services desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the successful applicants.

Main duties of the job

Duties include but not limited to – Emptying of bins, vacuum cleaning, mopping, buffing/scrubbing of floors, damp dusting all furniture/fittings, replenishing and cleaning of all sanitary areas.

Catering service also provided on ward areas.

Person specification
Qualifications
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
  • Commit to completing a competency workbook within 12 months
  • Committed to complete a NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Services within 18 months of employment
Experience
  • Previous cleaning and/or catering experience
  • Ability to use a computer to input data, send and receive emails, and undertake e-learning
  • Working in a hospital or healthcare setting
Knowledge
  • Basic Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • National Standards of Cleanliness
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Domestic and clinical waste disposal procedures
Skills/ Abilities
  • Ability to understand and adhere to standards and procedures
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Possess excellent hygiene standards
  • Communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery
  • Able to acquire new skills and willing to work towards and achieve an appropriate qualification
  • Good interpersonal skills
