Ty Seren, a project of Taff Housing in Cardiff, is seeking a caring Support Officer to help young people make positive changes. You will build trusting relationships, promote independent living skills and support move-on to independent accommodation in a psychologically informed setting.

You will workshop sessions to boost independence, safeguard residents, and respond to challenging behaviour with a commitment to equality.

Qualifications

• Experience working with people with support needs.
• Knowledge of HB and UC benefits and housing support.
• Ability to run workshops to promote independence and wellbeing.
• Safeguarding and child protection understanding.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour and resolving conflict.
• Commitment to equality and inclusive practice.

We are looking for a caring and compassionate Support Officer to join our team at Ty Seren and support young people to make changes in their lives. By building positive relationships and taking a 'work with' approach, you'll help residents achieve their goals and take those next steps towards independence. The role can be challenging. We work in a psychologically informed way and aim to build resilience in trauma-affected people, which can bring up many difficult emotions. Every member of the team at Ty Seren brings their own unique personality, creating a supportive, inclusive and welcoming workplace like no other.

What You'll Do...

You’ll provide tailored support to the residents of Ty Seren. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users in a psychological environment. To promote independent living skills with the goal of successful move on into independent accommodation.

What You'll Bring To The Role...

• Understanding of working with people with support needs
• Good working knowledge of HB /and UC
• Ability to run workshops to increase independence and wellbeing sessions and to support residents to achieve their goals and aspirations
• Up to date safeguarding and child protection understanding
• A positive approach to tackling project wide issues and responding positively to residents
• Experience of managing challenging behaviour and resolving conflict
• To challenge behaviour which undermines the ethos of equality
• Ability to drive
• Confident with computers
