Job summary

A2Dominion in Newbury is seeking a housing support worker to deliver high-quality, person-centered assistance to customers in supported accommodation, helping them sustain tenancies by promoting independence.

You will assess referrals, liaise with health professionals and partner agencies, and develop and review Independent Living Plans and risk assessments. Safeguarding concerns will be reported following proper procedures and you will work to empower clients towards greater independence.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grades A*-C)
  • Ability to travel between sites (Newbury and Thatcham)
  • Experience of working with diverse client groups
  • Experience of working with clients experiencing substance misuse and mental health.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure clients are aware of support, financial obligations, rights and responsibilities under tenancy arrangements and related procedures.
  • Agree and review Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments; deliver contracted hours of support to achieve outcomes.
  • Report safeguarding concerns using the correct procedures and attend case conferences as required.
  • Demonstrate high level relationship skills: empathy, acceptance, constructive challenge; positive outlook for the future.

Job description

Driving Licence & Travel: A driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable, as travel between our schemes in

Newbury and Thatcham may be required. However, this is not essential, provided candidates can reliably travel to both locations. Mileage expenses are reimbursed in line with company policy.

Role Overview

To deliver high quality person-centred support to customers living insupported accommodation service in accordance with the Person Centred principles, enabling clients to sustain their tenancies by promoting independence, freedom and choice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess referrals and engage with prospective clients using a person-centered approach.
  • Liaise with health professionals, other agencies and colleagues as appropriate. Forge and maintain links with partner agencies and other key stakeholders as appropriate to ensure that good communication and co-operation is maintained
  • Ensure that prospective and current clients are fully aware of the support available, their financial obligations, rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/occupation arrangements and all related procedures
  • Agree and review client Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments on a regular basis, deliver contracted hours of support to achieve the required outcomes.
  • Report any concerns relating to safeguarding of vulnerable people using the correct procedures, attending case conferences and other meetings as required.
  • High level of relationship skills: empathy, mutual acceptance, supportive and constructive challenge; positive expectation for the future.

  • A working knowledge and understanding of how to support people in achieving and maintaining independence essential
  • Experience of providing support to diverse client groups
  • Experience of working with clients experiencing substance misuse and mental health.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (Grades A*- C)
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to network and build strong relationships with partner agencies, community and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to use IT packages and management information systems.
  • Ability to deal with distressed and aggressive clients.
  • Driving Licence and use of own transport desirable
