TAFF is seeking a compassionate Support Assistant to join Ty Parc, our new supported accommodation in Abergavenny, working waking nights. You will help keep residents safe, supported, and moving towards independence with a person-centred, relationship-led approach.
From the outset you will work with care-experienced young people aged 16+, building trust, responding calmly to needs, and following support plans to promote wellbeing and progression in a psychologically informed environment.
We are looking for a caring and compassionate Support Assistant to join the team at Ty Parc, our new supported accommodation project in Abergavenny, in a waking nights role.
This is a chance to be part of a new Taff service from the beginning. Every young person deserves the chance to take their next steps with confidence, and you could be one of the people who helps make that happen. You will play an important role in maintaining the safety, wellbeing and support of the residents and the accommodation throughout the night. Working waking nights, you will provide a calm, reassuring presence and respond to the needs of five care-experienced young people aged 16+ as they continue their journey towards positive and sustainable change. We believe good support is built through positive relationships. That means working alongside residents rather than doing things for them. Even during the night, you’ll help create a safe and supportive environment where young people feel listened to, respected, and able to settle with confidence.
No two nights will be the same. You’ll be supporting residents in a way that is shaped by real lives, experiences and progress, helping to maintain trust, stability and safety at their own pace. This is a meaningful challenge, and you’ll be supported to do it well. At Taff, we work in a psychologically informed way and aim to build resilience in trauma-affected young people, which can bring up difficult emotions for both them and the colleagues who walk alongside them. Every member of the support team at Taff brings their own personality, experience and perspective. Together, that creates a workplace that’s supportive, inclusive and genuinely welcoming. To help you succeed in your role, you’ll receive colleague benefits such as an employee assistance programme, clinical supervision and regular training and learning opportunities, because we want you to grow in your career as much as you support the young people in yours.
You’ll be a key part of the day-to-day delivery of Ty Parc, supporting care experienced young people aged 16+ as they move from residential care towards independence. Working waking nights on a two weekly rolling pattern, supporting colleagues to enable and assist young people aged 16+ that are transitioning from residential care to independence. By building positive relationships and taking a work with approach to help residents achieve their goals and move on successfully into independent accommodation. Following the support plans agreed by service users and their support officers and following safety and risk plans designed to maintain project safety.
.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the community we serve, and we actively encourage applications from all backgrounds.
