Job summary

Randstad UK is seeking a Supply Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Wallington, near Croydon. This ad hoc role offers daily pay of £88-£93 with hours 8:30-4:30, across the working week.

Role involves 1:1 and small group support to help students overcome emotional challenges, engage with learning, and build positive relationships. GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or higher are required.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or higher.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred but not essential.
• Proven background working with children or young people with SEND.
• Excellent communication skills, patience, emotional resilience, and proactive work ethic.

• Assist class teachers with classroom management, lesson preparation, and learning activities.
• Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

• Escort and support pupils during lunch breaks, physical activities, and school trips where required.

Provide targeted academic and behavioural support to individual pupils or small groups.

Assist class teachers with classroom management, lesson preparation, and learning activities.

Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

Support pupils with emotional self-control and conflict resolution using positive behaviour strategies.

Monitor student progress and report achievements or challenges to teaching staff.

Escort and support pupils during lunch breaks, physical activities, and school trips where required.

Qualifications & Essential Criteria

GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or higher (or equivalent standard). Holding a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred by not essential.

Proven background working alongside children or young people with SEND.

Excellent communication skills, patience, emotional resilience, and a proactive work ethic.

A high degree of empathy, strong professionalism, and the capability to establish trust with vulnerable or challenging pupils.
