Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking an experienced teaching assistant with specialist SEND experience to join our Wallington-based school on a supply basis. Daily rate £88-£93, with typical hours 8:30-4:30, on-site support across classes and small groups to help students engage and manage emotions.

You'll collaborate with teaching staff to provide 1:1 and small group support, support classroom management, and help create a calm, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or higher (or equivalent).
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred but not essential.
• Proven background working with children or young people with SEND.
• Excellent communication skills, patience and a proactive work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted academic and behavioural support to individual pupils or small groups.
• Assist class teachers with classroom management, lesson preparation, and learning activities.
• Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support pupils with emotional self-control and conflict resolution using positive behaviour strategies.
• Monitor student progress and report achievements or challenges to teaching staff.
• Escort and support pupils during lunch breaks, physical activities, and school trips where required.

Salary: £88-£93 per day // Working Hours: 8:30-4:30 Any day during the working week.

Collaborate with teaching staff and provide 1:1 and small group support to help students overcome emotional challenges, engage with learning, and build positive relationships.

Qualifications & Essential Criteria

• GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or higher (or equivalent standard). Holding a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred by not essential.
• Proven background working alongside children or young people with SEND.
• Excellent communication skills, patience, emotional resilience, and a proactive work ethic.
• A high degree of empathy, strong professionalism, and the capability to establish trust with vulnerable or challenging pupils.
