Job description

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain – North, you’ll take ownership of a varied portfolio of internal and external supply chain development projects — from initial opportunity through to implementation and measurable results.

You’ll:
  • Lead and manage strategic supply chain projects, balancing multiple workstreams and stakeholders to deliver against time, cost and service objectives.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities to reduce costs, increase revenue and improve service across the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that improve distributor performance, operational effectiveness and commercial outcomes.
  • Work closely with Finance to build robust business cases, evaluate ROI and track the financial impact of projects.
  • Develop and evolve end-to-end supply chain KPIs, performance measures and reporting, turning data into meaningful insight and action.
  • Champion continuous improvement, challenging existing processes and embedding better ways of working across the Supply Chain team.
  • Ensure new processes are properly documented, governed and embedded so improvements become sustainable.
  • Keep ahead of legislative and regulatory developments, including areas such as DRS and EPR, ensuring the supply chain remains compliant and future-ready.
  • Monitor logistics and supply chain trends, technologies and industry best practice, identifying opportunities that could benefit the business.
  • Explore opportunities for third-party collaboration, synergies and new revenue streams.
  • Raise the profile of sustainable supply chain across the wider business.
  • Influence and collaborate with teams across Operations, Finance, IT, Marketing, Food Development, Brewing & Brands, Distributor Contract Management and our Pub Partners and Free Trade divisions.
Company Description

Join us at Greene King the country's leading pub company and brewer, where our mission is to pour happiness into lives and become the pride of great British hospitality. We have something special, deeply rooted in our 220-year brewing and pub history, creating the business we are proudly known for today. Still today our 39,000 strong team are the guardians of what’s wholly British, the pub experience.

We’re looking for a Supply Chain Development Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract who can turn ideas into action, identify opportunities others might miss, and deliver projects that make a genuine commercial difference.

This is more than a traditional supply chain role. You’ll sit at the heart of our Group Supply Chain – North, leading strategic projects, developing smarter ways of working, unlocking efficiencies and helping build a more sustainable, responsive and commercially successful supply chain.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who combines supply chain expertise with strong commercial and project management capability.

You’ll bring:
  • Previous experience working within a Supply Chain environment, ideally with operational knowledge of a distributor environment.
  • A strong understanding of operational processes, controls and performance management.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects and multiple workstreams.
  • The confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interrogate and manipulate data — particularly using Excel.
  • Experience working with budgets, commercial data and financial performance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Leadership capability, demonstrated through previous team management and/or delivery of complex projects.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Visio.
  • Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of how operational decisions translate into business value.
  • A growth mindset — someone who sees problems as opportunities to improve rather than reasons to maintain the status quo.

A formal project management qualification would be desirable, but your ability to deliver results matters more than a certificate.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to have real influence across the supply chain, rather than simply manage an existing process.

You’ll work across functions, challenge the way we do things, build compelling business cases, influence senior stakeholders and see your ideas move from concept to implementation.

You’ll also have the opportunity to shape our approach to sustainability, compliance, technology, performance and commercial optimisation — areas that will define the supply chain of the future.

If you’re someone who…
  • Thinks commercially.
  • Loves solving complex problems.
  • Can turn data into decisions.
  • Gets people behind an idea.
  • Enjoys making things better.
  • And wants to see tangible results from the work you do…
