Job summary

Veolia UK is seeking a regional mobile engineer to cover London and South East London. You will oversee daily operation and maintenance of energy centre equipment, supervise contractors, and ensure safe, compliant work practices. A strong leadership profile and boiler/steam plant experience are essential.

You will plan and coordinate maintenance, manage on-call rotas, and handle reporting, purchasing, and compliance tasks, with opportunities for progression within Veolia's energy services.

Qualifications

• Lead and manage a team of engineers daily.
• Experience operating steam plant and related equipment.
• Able to dismantle/reassemble boilers for annual inspections.
• Proven health and safety performance.
• Ability to write risk assessments for tasks.
• Ability to write/may amend method statements.
• Computer literate and able to use standard software.
• Able to communicate with and advise clients when required.
• Full driving licence.
• Plan maintenance schedules and repair works.
• BOAS BG01 & BG02 accreditation.
• Gas Safe registration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operatons and maintenance of energy centre equipment (steam boilers, LTHW systems).
• Plan reactive maintenance and schedule planned tasks with scheduling team.
• Ensure works comply with Veolia HSE policies; supervise contractors, permits and risk assessments.
• Complete service reports and related paperwork; respond to emergencies.
• Perform diagnostic and fault finding on plant/equipment as needed.
• Carry out routine servicing and commissioning when required.
• Manage on-call engineer rota and weekly movement sheets.
• Control budget and raise purchase orders as needed; raise P6 and P3 applications.

Salary: £58,043

Grade: L5.R1

Hours: 37.5 hours a week and be available out of hours to assist the on-call engineers if required

Location: This is a regional mobile role covering London & South East London

What you'll do,

• Pro-actively oversee daily operational and maintenance routines of Energy Centre equipment; including Steam Boilers, LTHW Systems, and associated equipment
• Oversee and plan reactive maintenance
• Schedule planned maintenance with the scheduling team
• Ensure that all works are carried out in line with Veolia health and safety policy, this will include supervision of contractors, permit to work and risk assessment.
• Complete service reports and associated paperwork
• Provide an appropriate response to emergency situations.
• When required oversee and carry out diagnostic and fault finding to plant and equipment
• When required oversee and carry out routine servicing and commissioning to plant and equipment
• Oversee and manage the engineers call out rota
• Oversee and manage the engineer's weekly movement sheet
• Control spending and inform your line manager of any unplanned spend
• Raise Purchase orders when required
• Raise P6 quotations when required
• Raise P3 applications when required
• Be available out of hours to assist the on-call engineers if required

The experience you will need,

• Be able to lead and assist a team of engineers
• Experienced in Operation of Steam Plant and Associated Equipment
• Be able to dismantle and reassemble boilers and associated equipment for annual inspections.
• Proven good record of health and safety performance
• Ability to write and follow Risk assessments for specific tasks.
• Ability to write and follow Method Statements and amend as required
• Computer literate
• Be able to communicate with and advise the client when required
• Full driving licence required
• Plan maintenance schedules and repair works.
