Job summary

Cardiff Council's Fostering Service is seeking a Supervising Social Worker to recruit, assess, support and supervise foster carers, kinship carers and connected persons. You will work within a strengths-based framework to secure safe, stable and nurturing placements for children and young people in Cardiff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Care Wales are essential.
• Proven assessment and report-writing skills.
• Ability to build partnerships with carers, families and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, assess, support and supervise mainstream foster carers, connected persons carers and kinship carers.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with carers and families.
• Undertake comprehensive fostering, kinship and connected person assessments.
• Gather information from partner agencies to inform safeguarding decisions.
• Produce high-quality reports and recommendations for panels and courts.
• Present reports to Fostering Panel and contribute to care planning and safeguarding.
