Job summary

Foster Care Associates (FCA) is recruiting a Senior/Supervising Social Worker to support fostering services across Cymru South. This is a full-time permanent role with flexible hybrid working from our Bridgend office and home-based options.

The post focuses on supervising foster carers, ensuring compliance, and contributing to high-quality care planning and Form F assessments. A chance to join a leading national fostering charity with strong staff wellbeing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Professional registration with Social Care Wales or equivalent.
• Proven ability to produce a high standard of report writing.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including occasional nights away.
• Confidence with transporting children and young people in challenging situations.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support foster parents and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for all children and young people in foster care.
• Monitor the continued suitability and competence of foster parents, ensuring a safe, healthy environment.
• Ensure foster parents understand the fostering task, competencies and FCA policies.
• Provide and record regular supervision to allocated foster parents per FCA standards.
• Work in a team parenting approach to identify needs within the foster family and coordinate with the child’s network.
• Ensure each child and foster parent are compliant with key documentation.
• Attend meetings and provide reports for Commissioning Teams to address care packages.
• Promote participation of children and young people in agency development and local opportunities.
• Participate in Out of Hours duty service on a rota basis.
• Participate in daytime duty system to support the Referrals Team.
• Undertake initial home visits and Form F assessments.
