Job summary

Marie Curie is seeking a Sunday Assistant in Liverpool to run the store, handle daily operations and engage with customers and volunteers. The role focuses on maintaining high display standards, stock control, pricing, and Gift Aid processes while representing a trusted charity in the community.

You will lead by example, ensuring all staff and volunteers follow charity procedures, with a strong emphasis on customer service, teamwork, and independent responsibility during lone working shifts.

Qualifications

  • Previous retail experience, preferably fashion/clothing.
  • Experience with cash handling and sales records.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good organisational skills and workload prioritisation.
  • Understanding of health and safety in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Run the store and daily operations.
  • Maximise sales with high display standards and stock rotation.
  • Process donated goods according to standards and pricing guidelines.
  • Maximise Gift Aid income and manage bought-in goods.
  • Engage with customers and coach volunteers and staff.
  • Recruit volunteers and engage with the community.
  • Oversee store staff and volunteers and comply with Marie Curie procedures.
  • Take responsibility for overall store management and operation.

Job Description

You willbe responsible for:

Running the store and ensuring that daily operations run efficiently.

Maximisesalesbymaintaininghigh standardsof display and layout, ensuring proper stock rotation, and securing realistic pricing on donated items.

Ensuringdonated goods are processed according to set standards andtimeframes, and that pricing is in line with charity guidelines.

MaximisingGift Aid income and oversee the proper display and administration of bought-in goods, ensuring minimal stock loss.

Customer engagement and leading by coaching volunteers and staff to have great conversations with every customer on\" Rounding up\" their purchase, making an \"add donation\" for our charity and signing up for our loyalty scheme.

Engaging with the community to drive repeat custom, stock donation, volunteerrecruitmentand community involvement.

Managingvolunteers and ensuring allstaffand volunteers are followingMarie Curieprocedures and guidelines.

Takingresponsibility for the overall management and operation of thestore.

Key Criteria:

Previousretail experience,preferably in fashion/clothing.

Experience of cash handling andfinancial managementprocedures(including completion of sales records).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the ability to communicatewith tact and discretion,

Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands.

Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.

Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable.
