Job summary

Marie Curie in the UK seeks a Retail Manager to lead store operations, drive sales and deliver outstanding customer service in a compassionate charity retail setting.

You will manage staff and volunteers, curate visual merchandising, control budgets, and promote donations and loyalty signups, while upholding charity guidelines and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Solid retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing.
  • Experience in managing a team; managing volunteers would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of retailing and merchandising display.
  • Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first attitude and discretion.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead store operations to create a memorable shopping experience.
  • Curate donated product with visual merchandising and feature displays to drive sales.
  • Identify opportunities for growth by keeping up to date with fashion trends and local market demands.
  • Manage staff and volunteers, recruiting, training, and supporting them for effective store operation.
  • Coach volunteers and staff to engage customers and promote donations and loyalty signups.
  • Ensure sales targets are met and direct costs are kept within budgets; handle cash and reporting.
  • Ensure donated goods are processed per standards and pricing guidelines.

Job Description

You willbe responsible for:

Lead store operations bringing energy and vision to create a memorable shopping experience.

Utilize your eye for design and style, to curate your donated product through great visual merchandising with enhanced feature displays and strong commercial windows to drive sales and footfall.

Keep up to date with the latest fashion trends and local market demands,identifyingopportunities for growth.

Managingstaff andvolunteerswhereyou’llget to work with some amazing people. Taking the lead in recruiting, training,managingand supportingvolunteersand staff membersto ensure the effective operation of thestore.

Customer engagement and leading by coaching volunteers and staff to have great conversations with every customer on" Rounding up" their purchase, making an "add donation" for our charity and signing up for our loyalty scheme.

Ensuring sales targets are met and direct costs are kept within managed budgets.

Ensuringall financial reporting and management, cash handling, dailybankingand security procedures are followed.

Ensuringdonated goods are processed according to set standards andtimeframes, and that pricing is in line with charity guidelines.

Key Criteria:

Solid retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing.

Experience in managinga team.Managingvolunteerswould be an advantage.

Comprehensive understanding of retailing and merchandising display.

Experience of cash handling andfinancial managementprocedures(including completion of sales records).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the abilityto communicate with tact and discretion.

Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands.

Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.

Vacancy type:Permanent, fulltime

Salary:£25,334, per annum+ benefits

In this role you will have sole responsibility for the running of the store, which will involve lone working. Due to this, we are unable to recruit anyone for this role who is under the age of 18.
