Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is offering a Summer Placement Engineer role in the North East region. You’ll work with site teams, gaining practical experience in engineering and construction management on a live project while travelling across project sites in the region.

You’ll be studying for a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related built environment discipline, develop technical and problem-solving skills, and observe how projects are engineered, managed and delivered with mentoring from

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or a related built environment discipline.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of people.
• Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm to learn and take on responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day management of site operations to ensure works are delivered safely and on programme.
• Develop understanding of how construction and engineering works are carried out safely and to required standards.
• Contribute to setting out, surveying and engineering control activities on site.
• Support preparation and review of method statements, risk assessments and quality documentation.
• Observe and support coordination of subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Attend planning meetings and progress reviews to understand site activity planning.
• Support site logistics, temporary works and sequencing of construction activities.
• Work with design, commercial and operational teams to resolve technical and practical challenges.
• Produce and maintain accurate site records, reports and other documentation.
