Job summary

Howden in Romford is offering a Specialist Motor Underwriting Summer Internship for ten weeks starting June 2027. You will join the underwriting team and gain hands-on exposure to the specialist motor insurance market.

No prior insurance experience required; you will learn alongside experienced underwriters, analyse data and support broker relationships. The programme builds analytical, commercial and communication skills and opening future underwriting career paths.

Qualifications

• Penultimate year student in an analytical degree or similar.
• Interest in data, problem solving and evidence-based decisions.
• Ability to communicate and build relationships across teams.

Responsibilities

• Attend structured induction and work with underwriters to gain hands-on exposure.
• Review account performance, analyse data and identify growth opportunities.
• Attend broker meetings and learn how relationships are developed across the market.
• Assist with evaluating new business and supporting underwriting decisions.
