Do you love working with children, and are looking for flexible hours during the Summer? Then we have the perfect fit for you! Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture is seeking Summer Camp Bus Drivers, to join our team. This position is responsible for driving the bus for camp out trips and acts as an extra leader during the trip. This position is paid driver rate while driving on trips and is paid attendant rate during the other scheduled hours. Our Auxiliary staff enjoy a free Staff Pass when they work one shift per week, flexibility in hours to accommodate different lifestyles, a culture that cares about work-life balance, and 14% pay on top of their hourly wage in lieu of benefits. We foster a learning environment and provide you with on-the-job training.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drives the bus on daily Camp out trips.
• Ensures bus is kept up to safety and cleanliness standards.
• Completes bus pre-trips, post-trips, and reports all concerns to Team Leader and/or Community Recreation Programmer.
• Acts as a second Attendant on out trips, can be responsible for up to 10 children.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Class 4 Unrestricted BC Driver's Licence and Driver’s Abstract.
• Current Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification.
• Provision of a current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (Note: This is the applicant’s financial responsibility to obtain this).

HOURS OF WORK Monday-Friday shifts vary between 8:30am-5:00pm;
Note: This position is flexible with days/hours. If you are interested and have the qualifications but limited availability please apply. Additional shifts may be available
for Camp subbing.

LOCATION(S) Varies. Pick up at Oak Bay Recreation Centre or Henderson Recreation Centre.

RATE

• Attendant Rate - $20.92 ($18.90 per hour plus $2.65 per hour in lieu of benefits – 2024 rates)
• Driving Rate - $23.93 ($20.99 per hour plus $2.94 per hour in lieu of benefits – 2024 rates). This rate is paid while driving the bus.

STATUS Auxiliary (This is a union position)

BENEFITS

• 14% in lieu of benefits per hour
• Staff Membership to drop-in the weightroom, fitness classes, skating, and pool (applicable to employees with 1 or more set shifts per week)
