Job summary

Progressive Recruitment is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Lead) for a major substation project at National Grid's Melksham site. You will lead all commercial activities across the project lifecycle, ensure cost control, contract administration, and governance.

The contract is temporary, from 28 September 2026 to 18 December 2026, working 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00, with a day rate of £450–£500.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor on infrastructure projects.
• Strong cost control, budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills.
• Experience in contract administration and risk mitigation.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
• Proficient with MS Office and commercial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of a major substation project.
• Manage costs, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Administer contracts and ensure compliance with terms.
• Prepare valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
• Negotiate variations and change control processes.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and accounts.
• Provide commercial guidance to delivery teams.
