Job summary

Search Consultancy LTD is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Lead to drive commercial management on a major National Grid substation project in Melksham. The site-based role will lead commercial activities, managing costs, forecasts and reporting through to completion.

The position is temporary, 50 hours per week, with working hours 08:00-17:00. Experience on substations or National Grid projects is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong commercial management experience in construction/utilities/energy sectors.
• Experience on substation or National Grid projects desirable.
• Ability to manage budgets, forecasts and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of the substation project.
• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Oversee valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, variations, change control and commercial negotiations.
• Monitor project performance against budgets and targets.

Location: Melksham, Wiltshire

Project: National Grid Melksham Substation

Contract: Temporary

Hours: 50 hours per week

Working Hours: 08:00-17:00

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major substation project in Melksham.

The successful candidate will act as the commercial lead for the project, taking responsibility for the commercial management and financial performance of the works from project delivery through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the commercial management of the substation project.
• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Oversee valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, variations, change control and commercial negotiations.
• Monitor project performance against budgets and agreed commercial targets.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Prepare and review monthly commercial reports.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Management and wider project team.
• Ensure contractual and commercial obligations are properly managed.
• Support the successful commercial delivery of the project through to completion.
• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong commercial management experience within the construction, utilities or energy sector.
• Experience working on substation, electrical infrastructure or National Grid projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of subcontract management, variations, valuations and final accounts.
• Excellent commercial, contractual and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with project teams, clients and subcontractors.
