Practice Plus Group - Health in Justice is seeking a Substance Misuse Support Worker for HMP Risley. The role involves clinical duties across clinics, reception screening, and coordination with nurses, GPs and the wider healthcare team. Salary ranges £25,557–£29,723 per year.

Qualifications

• Experience within a substance misuse role
• Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
• Clinical skills such as bloods (venepuncture) are desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of substance misuse / mental health issues
• A resilient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to patient care
• Ability to work effectively in a secure and fastpaced environment

Responsibilities

• Running and supporting healthcare clinics (bloods, observations, ECGs, NHS Health Checks)
• Working in reception (Early Days in Custody), carrying out basic health assessments and bloodborne virus screening
• Assess and monitor deteriorating patients, including completion and interpretation of NEWS2 scores, and elevate concerns appropriately
• Supporting health promotion and wellbeing initiatives
• Acting as pharmacy second checker and assisting with medication rounds
• Working collaboratively with nurses, GPs, and wider healthcare professionals
