Job summary

Practice Plus Group is hiring a Substance Misuse Support Worker for HMP Lancaster Farms, a Category C male prison. The role involves working with the healthcare team to deliver harm reduction and psychosocial support, across locations on site.

The post offers a full-time 37.5-hour week, with shifts 8:00–19:00, Monday to Friday, and a salary up to £29,723 per year. Comprehensive induction, development and wellbeing benefits are provided to support career growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in, or understanding of, working with recovery or other support services.
• Ability to quickly establish rapport with patients and engage them in services.
• Ability to positively manage potentially challenging behaviour.
• Commitment to include patients in the development of service delivery.
• Understanding, knowledge and commitment to harm reduction.
• Experience working within a substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework.

Responsibilities

• You will be working with other members of the health care team supporting with the assessment and delivery of harm reduction advice.
• Provide outstanding evidence-based care to patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised to their recovery journey and informed by what matters to them.
• Deliver non-judgemental care, alongside our integrated healthcare team in different locations across the site.
• You will support with the delivery of a range of psychosocial interventions through brief intervention and group work delivery.
• You will often be the first point of contact the patient will have with the SMS service, encouraging the patients to access support to improve their own health and wellbeing.
