Job summary

Practice Plus Group - Health in Justice seeks a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker for HMP Garth, a high-security male prison. The role involves caseload management, triage, and delivering psychosocial interventions with MDT collaboration. Part-time, starting salary up to £20,106.

The post offers bespoke induction, regional/national career development, and access to Learning Management System resources to support ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment
• Experience working within a substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework (housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways)
• Experience of managing a caseload
• Flexible approach and excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
• Work with receptions (new patients entering the prison), triaging and carrying out assessments
• Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing
• Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery
• Facilitate peer-led group sessions
• Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
• Work closely with MDT professionals, including within the prison and the community, such as probation, external drug & alcohol services etc
