Job summary

Practice Plus Group’s Health in Justice team at HMP Winchester is seeking a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the male remand prison’s substance misuse service. You will support patients with psycho-social interventions and promote health and wellbeing through recovery from drugs and alcohol.

This full-time role is Mon–Fri 08:00–16:00 with a salary up to £33,510. We offer bespoke induction, a competency framework and career development within a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Evidence of CPD.
• Relevant degree/qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge and experience in structured psychosocial interventions.
• Experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework including housing, social care, healthcare, and mental health pathways.
• Non-judgemental and compassionate approach.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good IT skills and IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding evidence-based care to a caseload of psycho-social patients, listening to and acting on their feedback to personalise care.
• Deliver a programme of psycho-social interventions and provide information on substance misuse and related health topics.
• Deliver non-judgemental care on a one-to-one basis and through group work, supporting the healthcare teams.

Hours

Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £33,510 per annum.

What you'll be doing

• Provide outstanding evidence based care to a case load of psycho social patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
• You will provide a programme of psycho social interventions, along with information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cession, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.
• Deliver non-judgemental care on a one to one basis and through group work, supporting the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks.
• You’ll make a real difference as defined throughout our bespoke HiJ competency framework following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.
