Job summary

Practice Plus Group is hiring a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker for HMP Wymott. The post sits in the Therapeutic Community wing, delivering recovery-focused care to a male prison population and supporting inmates to reduce substance misuse and improve health outcomes.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours) with Monday–Friday shifts 08:30–16:30. Salary ranges from £29,264 to £33,510 per annum, with benefits including pension, annual leave and wellbeing support.

Qualifications

  • Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and will be subject to vetting and security checks.
  • Experience in substance misuse, ideally in a prison/secure environment, and ideally in a Recovery Worker role or similar.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients with varying needs, including substance misuse and mental health.
  • Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing.
  • Provide information on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, and safe sex practices.
  • Prepare patients for release and transfer.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our team at HMP Wymott.

HMP Wymott is a large, Category C prison in Leyland, accommodating approximately 1,200 adult males, and we have a varied and complex population. Practice Plus Group provides primary care, mental health and substance misuse services across the wings, clinic areas, inpatient facilities, and reception services.

Join the Recovery Team and empower those whom wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol.

This is crucial role is based in our Therapeutic Community wing, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care.

Hours

This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week.

Shifts are Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:30.

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £29,264 - £33,510 per annum.

What you'll be doing

As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
  • Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing
  • Deliver SMART sessions, Narcotics Anonymous, Inside Out etc
  • Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery
  • Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cession, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
  • Prepare patients for release and transfer

Our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker will:
  • Have experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
  • Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
  • Have experience of managing a caseload
  • Have a flexible approach, and excellent communication skills
