Job summary

Change Grow Live in Manchester is seeking a Substance Misuse Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team on-site. You will deliver specialist clinical interventions for people affected by drugs and alcohol, applying a whole-person approach to care.

You will perform health assessments, support vaccination and BBV screening, contribute to naloxone strategies, maintain data records, and promote best practice per UK guidelines. We offer development, CPD time, and competitive NHS-aligned pay bands.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with active NMC registration.
  • Experience in substance misuse or community health settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and clinical assessment skills.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake physical and mental health assessments for service users.
  • Provide education, health promotion and BBV screening.
  • Administer Hepatitis B vaccinations when indicated.
  • Contribute to Naloxone strategy and harm reduction initiatives.

Where: Manchester (This is a fully on-site position. Remote or hybrid working arrangements are not available for this role.)

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

The Substance Misuse Nurse role is a varied one, the successful candidate will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, offering specialist clinical interventions to people who use our services.

In our services no two days are the same. Every person who comes into our service is treated as an individual, so understanding the importance of a whole person approach along with being curious, a good listener, a clinically robust practitioner and having a flexible approach are essential skills.

Your role includes:

  • Undertaking physical and mental health assessments for people who access our services when
  • Appropriate sign posting/referral to primary care or appropriate secondary health care services for identified health issues
  • Providing education, health promotion and screening for blood borne viruses (BBV)
  • Providing Hepatitis B vaccinations when indicated
  • Contributing to CGL’s Naloxone Strategy
  • Ensuring that procedures are regularly reviewed to promote best practice and evidenced based practice in accordance with UK Guidelines on Clinical Management, NICE guidance, and CGL clinical protocols and procedures
  • Providing harm reduction advice to injecting service users, providing information and equipment and ensure all equipment is disposed of safely
  • Recording and inputting client data and information
