Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Commissioning Mechanical Test Engineer at HMNB Clyde Faslane to ensure submarine systems are tested, calibrated and commissioned to exacting standards, supporting national security.

You will conduct mechanical tests, support team optimization, engage with contractors, apply safety and quality policies, and review engineering documentation to solve technical challenges.

• Proven experience in mechanical commissioning and testing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical testing, calibration, and commissioning tasks on submarine systems.
• Support the Senior Test Engineer to optimise team performance and resource use.
• Engage with contractors and internal teams to manage risks and meet commissioning goals.
• Apply safety, quality, and environmental policies during all commissioning activities.
• Review engineering documentation and contribute to technical problem-solving.
