Job summary

Babcock is recruiting a Principal Submarine Systems Engineer to lead technical oversight across platform systems, interfacing with Design Authorities and MOD stakeholders. You’ll contribute to safety, performance and availability of UK submarines.

Based at HMNB Clyde Faslane or Devonport Royal Dockyard, the role requires experience in submarine engineering, design intent, and risk mitigation, with opportunities to influence long-term engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or near to achieving it.
• Desirable naval/marine, systems or mechanical/electrical engineering qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Act on behalf of the Chief Engineer, providing technical oversight across Platform Systems.
• Hold full technical delegations and interface with Design and Technical Authorities.
• Ensure design intent from work package creation through execution, testing and acceptance.
• Collaborate with internal project teams and external MOD stakeholders on long-term solutions.
• Participate in groups to assess engineering changes and support continuous improvement.
