Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Principal Submarine Systems Engineer to safeguard the UK’s most advanced submarines, with roles at HMNB Clyde Faslane or Devonport Royal Dockyard. The position is on-site, full-time, and eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

You will act as a technical lead, provide oversight across platform systems, and collaborate with Design, Authority bodies, and MOD stakeholders on long-term engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in submarine engineering.
• Strong awareness of system engineering within mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines.
• Practical experience conducting technical audits and navigating associated processes.
• Strong communication skills with stakeholders across interfaces.
• Experience identifying, managing and prioritising technical risks and mitigations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight across Platform Systems on behalf of the Chief Engineer.
• Act as a key interface with Design and Technical Authorities.
• Maintain design intent from work package creation through execution, testing and acceptance.
• Collaborate with internal project teams and MOD stakeholders on long-term engineering solutions.
• Participate in groups to assess engineering change and support continuous improvement.
