Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Sub Agent to lead a dedicated section of works near Peterhead, reporting to senior site management and taking ownership of engineering delivery, safety systems, QA, productivity programming, and subcontractor management.

The role demands strong leadership of engineers, hands-on planning, and delivery of compliant RAMS and handover documentation, with a focus on Zero Harm and KPI-driven progress in a major civil infrastructure environment.

Qualifications

• Valid CSCS Card, SSSTS or SMSTS, and a full UK driving license.
• Strong background leading engineering teams on major civil infrastructure projects (Earthworks, Drainage, Pavement, etc).
• Good working knowledge of current H&S legislation, incident investigation processes, RAMS creation, and handover certification.
• Proven ability to create fully resourced stage programmes, track production KPIs, monitor section budgets, and manage subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead site safety with a Zero Harm focus and coach engineers.
• Investigate incidents, conduct site audits, and drive safety improvements.
• Oversee setting out, problem solving, NCR handling, and handover documentation (Green Files).
• Produce resourced stage programmes and monitor progress with KPIs and lookahead schedules.
• Manage subcontractor performance and draft formal commercial correspondence.

Role Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Sub Agent to lead and control a dedicated section of works near Peterhead. Reporting to senior site management, you will lead a team of Section Engineers and Site Engineers, taking full ownership of engineering delivery, safe systems of work, quality assurance, productivity programming, and subcontractor management.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Safety: Lead site safety with a Zero Harm focus, manage and coach engineers, and review/improve RAMS, permits (including Confined Space & Hot Works), and temporary works implementations.
• Incident & Safety Management: Lead accident/incident investigations, conduct site/field audits, and carry out trend analysis to drive continuous safety improvements.
• Engineering Control & Quality: Guide engineering staff on complex setting out, oversee technical problem solving, manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), and take ownership of handover documentation (Green Files).
• Planning & Productivity: Produce fully resourced stage programmes, track KPIs, establish graphical progress monitors, and ensure alignment between section and short-term lookahead schedules.
• Commercial & Subcontractor Management: Maintain detailed site diaries, manage subcontractor performance/procurement, monitor weekly costs against section budgets, and draft formal commercial correspondence.

Key Requirements & Experience

• Essential Qualifications: Valid CSCS Card, SSSTS or SMSTS, and a full UK driving license.
• Technical & Management Experience: Strong background leading engineering teams on major civil infrastructure projects (e.g., Earthworks, Drainage, Pavement, Comms, Structures, or Roadworks).
• H&S & Quality Expertise: Good working knowledge of current H&S legislation, incident investigation processes, RAMS creation, and handover certification.
• Planning & Commercial Skills: Proven ability to create fully resourced stage programmes, track production KPIs, monitor section budgets, and manage subcontractors.
• Desirable: Professional accreditation (e.g., ICE or IHT).

Site Office Location: Located near AB42 3ED (approx. 6 miles / 12-minute drive west of Peterhead Town Centre). Convenient access from the A90 and Longside Road.
