Job summary

Deykin Avenue J&I School is seeking a caring Learning Mentor to join our supportive community. You will provide nurture and pastoral support to pupils, helping them feel happy, safe and ready to learn, and work with the leadership team to identify and address individual needs.

You will build trusting relationships, deliver targeted interventions, support emotional wellbeing and contribute to an inclusive, welcoming environment where every child belongs and can thrive.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in a school or similar setting.
• Ability to build positive relationships and earn trust.
• Commitment to wellbeing and inclusion.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work as part of a wider team.
• Organised, reliable and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing and pastoral support to children across the school.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and help them develop confidence and resilience.
• Work with the leadership team to identify children who may benefit from additional support.
• Provide individual and small-group interventions based on identified needs.
• Support children's emotional wellbeing, behaviour, relationships and engagement with learning.
• Help children develop strategies to manage their emotions and overcome barriers to learning.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive and welcoming school environment where every child feels a sense of belonging.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and families to ensure children receive appropriate support.
• Monitor and review the impact of pastoral support and contribute to relevant records and discussions.
