Job summary

Trafford & Stockport College Group is seeking a Pastoral Support Mentor to join the Learner Services Team across Trafford and Stockport campuses. The role focuses on social and emotional wellbeing, mental health support, and addressing barriers to achievement.

You will lead 1:1 and group sessions, collaborate with curriculum teams, and contribute to safeguarding and intervention planning. An inclusive, supportive environment and opportunities for CPD are offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with learners who have been identified as “at risk” and/or vulnerable.
  • Understanding of safeguarding per Child Protection and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policy.
  • Relation practice at the heart of all interactions with learners.
  • Business insurance

Responsibilities

  • Undertake group and 1:1 meetings with learners identified as requiring intervention.
  • Collaborate with Centre Manager and curriculum teams to follow up concerns regarding achievement, retention and/or behaviour to create a tiered intervention approach.
  • Build and maintain supportive relationships to assist in the personal and social development of students.
  • Assist the Centre Manager with delivery of the Group’s mental health, emotional and social wellbeing strategy.
  • Identify concerns, risks and barriers to students’ progress and work with parents/carers and external agencies to overcome them.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer when required and attend relevant multi-agency meetings.
  • Collaborate with professionals in completing Personal Education Plans for care experienced young people.
